Here A Little, There A Little - Part 2.2
Is There A Difference Between Being Religious & Being Spiritual?
Religion, rendered down to its definition is the outward show of our beliefs. Websters 1828 says that "Religion, in its most comprehensive sense, includes a belief in the being and perfections of God, in the revelation of his will to man, in man's obligation to obey his commands, in a state of reward and punishment, and in man's accountableness to God; and also true godliness or piety of life, with the practice of all moral duties. It therefore comprehends theology, as a system of doctrines or principles, as well as practical piety; for the practice of moral duties without a belief in a divine lawgiver, and without reference to his will or commands, is not religion." If we were to create a mathematical equation to it, Religion = Faith + Works.
Being Spiritual, on the other hand, is understood by studying the ministry of the Holy Spirit in the Dispensation of Grace. There are things that the Holy Spirit did "in times past" that He dose not do anymore in our dispensation. After running the cross references, we find that being Spiritual is being Biblical.
